When these sweet, young ladies came to me for a whimsical garden wedding at Glen Ellen Farm in Ijamsville, MD, I knew immediately this one would be a STUNNER. I have said for my entire career that Glen Ellen Farm may very well be the most beautiful wedding venue in Frederick, and this color palette was just lovely. Amy wanted peach, and lavender with pops of blue and yellow, but in a “saturated pastel” color palette. It seems counter-intuitive, but I felt like I immediately understood! Amy wanted a cascading bouquet that was mostly peach, and for her future wife, a round bouquet with a mixed color palette.
We used butterfly ranunculus, foxglove, larkspur, lavender, scabiosa, snapdragons, stock, several kinds of roses and honeysuckle foliage.
There are several ceremony locations at this venue, but my favorite is a stone patio next to the pond. We created a “grounded arch” in a 5-piece arrangement that was able to be moved into the tent for the reception. I love the addition of the large scale ferns that added some height to these pieces. They definitely helped create that whimsical, garden wedding vibe.
The reception tables were topped with beautiful asymmetrical centerpieces, filled with ferns and vines, and this gorgeous color palette. I really liked the use of the negative space in these centerpieces, to create high and low areas of the designs.
We did a sweet little floral accent on the cake and a larger version of the centerpieces for the guestbook table. You can also see in the first dance picture, that we were able to move the ceremony flowers into the tent to create a “meadow” around the sweetheart table. This is such a great way to get extra mileage out of ceremony flowers (in a way that actually looks intentional and beautiful!)
When you get married at this venue, seriously, you get a lot of REALLY yummy shots. Here are more of my favorites from this whimsical, garden wedding at Glen Ellen Farm. Seriously, I could look at these two women’s gallery all day. There was something so sweet and ethereal about the day – Amy’s pink hair, the little bunnies that showed up in little moments in the decor (peep the cake and the welcome table), the ferns, the venue, the gorgeous ‘golden hour’ photos in the meadow….I could go on and on.

It’s also one of Glen Ellen’s first weddings – I think, possibly, from their first season in business. (I told you, I’m a long-time lover of this venue!)
