Sweet Botanicals – a collection of all-natural bath and beauty products

July 12, 2020

Sweet Botanicals – a collection of all-natural bath and beauty products, is an offshoot of Sweet Blossoms, a wedding and event florist serving the DC Metro area.  It consists of a collection of bath and beauty products made with all-natural ingredients and packaged sustainably for shipping.  These are perfect for personal use or a beautifully packaged gift, maybe for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts…the possibilities are endless!

bath and skincare products that are all free from sulphates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, artificial coloring and synthetic fragrances/vitamins.

So a while back, I began looking around our home, and thinking about the amount of single-use plastic we have!  A lot of it was beauty products!  So I started wondering if I could make some of the things we use the most on my own.  That way I could control the ingredients, make sure I could pronounce them all and package everything in reusable tins.  Enough of my friends were interested enough that I decided to create them for the public!  I ship everything in compostable packaging which can be recycled or reused and you can feel good about reducing your carbon footprint, and using all-natural ingredients on your skin!

The definitions that are out there (natural, organic, vegan etc) seem to be not well-defined so what I will say about my products is that they are all free from sulphates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, artificial coloring and synthetic fragrances/vitamins.  I can pronounce all of the ingredients that I use and I know where they all come from.  My ingredients include plant-based butters and oils, plant-based fragrances, non-synthetic vitamins, minerals, and only two animal by-products (these are lanolin and beeswax, if you want to stay away from animal products).  My family and I use all of these products ourselves and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.  You are welcome to email me at blair@sweetblossomsllc.com

Salt Scrub: This salt scrub is the perfect exfoliator for your skin.  You can keep the container right in your shower and use once a week to give your skin an extra glow.  Use your hands to gently rub the scrub into your skin and then rinse off.  I recommend just lightly patting your skin dry after your shower so that the oil has time to absorb into your skin.  Also, please use caution, as the oil can make your tub slippery!

Ingredients: Refined Coconut Oil, Himilayan Sea Salt, Jojoba Oil, Essential Oil

Soothing Salve: As a florist and a baker, I find myself washing my hands ALL THE TIME!  I also go barefoot as often as I possibly can!  As you might imagine, sometimes my hands and feet need a little bit of extra love.  This salve is perfect for dry hands and feet, and is made from all the most soothing and moisturizing ingredients (the lanolin is my favorite!)  As with all butters, a little goes a long way, so start with a little bit and add more.  I also find that this salve is even more effective if your skin is a little wet when you use it.

Ingredients: Lanolin, Mango Butter, Beeswax, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Essential Oil

bath and skincare products that are all free from sulphates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, artificial coloring and synthetic fragrances/vitamins.

Beard Balm: This balm is made especially for men with a longer beard.  It is made to absorb quickly and it will keep your beard feeling soft all day.  As with all butters, a little goes a long way, so start with a little bit, like maybe a chickpea-sized amount!  My husband finds that this balm is even more effective if your beard is a little wet when you use it.

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Beeswax, Essential Oil

bath and skincare products that are all free from sulphates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, artificial coloring and synthetic fragrances/vitamins.

Bath Bombs: These bombs are made to fizz, but not add bubbles.  They add soothing salts to your bath to help your muscles relax, as well as a good dose of oil to soak into your skin.

Ingredients: Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Epsom Salts, Cornstarch, Sweet Almond Oil, Essential Oil

bath and skincare products that are all free from sulphates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, petroleum derivatives, artificial coloring and synthetic fragrances/vitamins.

Lip Balm: This balm is a little on the hard side.  Just swirl your finger around over the top to warm it up a bit, and as usual, with all butters and balms, a little goes a long way.

Ingredients: Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Essential Oil

Finally, before you go, I’d like to share a few products that are in the works.  They aren’t quite ready yet, but they are actually some of my favorites!

(almost ready for you) Head-To-Toe Body Butter: This body butter is super moisturizing, but light enough to go on your whole body.  We use it on our little one who has extremely dry skin all over and it really helps!  As with all butters, a little goes a long way, so start with a little bit and add more.  I also find that this body butter is even more effective if your skin is a little wet when you use it.

Ingredients: Mango Butter, Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Essential Oil

(almost ready for you) Rose-y Cheeks: This moisturizing butter is made up of ingredients chosen especially for your face.  I could say so much about the yummy ingredients in this butter but for now, I’ll say, the rosehip oil is what gives this butter its bright orange color, and NO, it will not make your skin that color!  As with all butters, a little goes a long way, so start with a little bit, like a pea-sized amount.  I also find that this butter is most effective if your skin is a little wet when you use it.  I’ve left this one unscented since it is going on your face!

Ingredients: Grapeseed Oil, Rosehip Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Essential Oil

(still in the planning phases) Leave-in Hair Conditioner/Mask:

(still in the planning phases) Sugar Scrub: made from very finely ground sugar, with ingredients picked especially for using on the face.
