The O’Byrne Gallery at the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is the perfect space to hold a classic white and green wedding in Washington DC. It is one of the prettiest historic venues in the city, in my opinion. It has a beautiful portico overlooking the Washington Monument, a decorative fireplace and mantle, and a gorgeous gallery space for the dinner tables.
Jenni’s bridal bouquet was a mix of 5 different kinds of roses, plus a touch of stock and freesia, to add a touch of green. The icing on the cake were just a few local white dahlias that I was able to add at the last minute. I loved that this bouquet had absolutely no foliage, so I was able to create something that was just incredibly lush and elegant.
One item that my clients often add to their contracts in our final revisions is Styling Blooms. What does that mean? Styling Blooms do not mean “extras.” Why? Let me explain. Do florists ever end up with “extras” or “leftovers”? The short answer is yes. However, their quality is extremely poor. This is because every florist expects that a few stems will be broken or blemished and not be of the quality we want for our event. We make our flower orders in anticipation of this, and the broken/blemished stems are purchased AT THE COST OF THE FLORIST. They are the cost of doing business. These stems are also not of the quality you’d want for Styling Blooms, which are being photographed with the wedding details (jewelry, stationary suite, etc) up close. Why would someone want to order Styling Blooms? Let me show you!
I love seeing flowers incorporated into these kinds of detail shots. This is a great way to ensure that you have photos of all those tiny details that you so carefully chose. You can photograph shoes, jewelry, perfume, wedding vows in a cute notebook, invitations, the sky’s the limit.
This wedding happened in the fall of 2023, and if anyone happens to remember the season, I’m pretty sure EVERY single wedding I had in the fall enacted their rain plans, and this bride in particular had an actual HURRICANE come through on the day of her wedding. This can definitely cause stress for a couple, but with a good vendor team, clients can feel confident that they are in the good hands of vendors who can handle all the last minute changes! In the several days leading up to the wedding, we were able to make plans for a classic white and green wedding in Washington DC that happened INSIDE, with minimal stress to the clients!
This ceremony was supposed to take place on the portico, but at the last minute, it was moved inside, and set in front of the fireplace. We added some beautiful pillar candle groupings and extra budvases to finish out the setting and I think we knocked it out of the park.
The dining room was filled with a beautiful head table and elegant round tables with taper candles to add lots of romantic candle light. I love the multiple heights of the arrangements on the head table
There were so many beautiful touches from this wedding. Here are a few more of my favorites.
