Romantic Candlelit Winter Wedding at St Francis Hall, Washington DC

April 1, 2024

I don’t think there’s anything more romantic than a candlelit dinner and inviting all of your closest friends to share in the most romantic day of your life, amidst as many candles as you can fit on the tables, only ups the romance level! This romantic candlelit winter wedding at St Francis Hall in Washington, DC had over 170 candles on the tables!

The first thing we wanted to focus on is how to create a wintery feel without making all the greenery look like a Christmas tree! For our greens, we used lots of cedar, magnolia, and several kinds of eucalyptus. The bridal bouquet included several kinds of roses, amaryllis, and a few other white blooms for texture and movement. We are definitely seeing a trend in petite bouquets coming back – I love this trend, especially when you want to let the details of the dress shine! For boutonnieres, I used a soft cedar touch combined with the white spray rose and a bit of eucalyptus seed.

As a backdrop for the headtable and also for the photos, we created a mass of pillar candles to begin adding the romantic candlelight.

The tables were decorated with a candle collection and a tall arrangement of greenery and white roses with more hanging candles. Candles, candles, candles and more candles. I love this combo of greenery, especially the brown touches from the underside of the magnolia leaves.

Here are a few more of my favs from the day. Can we talk about the bride’s shoes??? And I love how the bridesmaid dresses pickup the brown tones from the magnolia leaves, as well.

I want to say one more thing about these gorgeous candles. I’ve written a longer post about them, but these candles are a more eco-friendly choice than the typical paraffin event candles. They cut back on labor and waste for my company but they are also much better for the environment, AND I think they are a much more luxurious look as well. They were perfect for a romantic candlelit winter wedding.
